Mindful Wellness Course - 2019

This 3 hour format, done weekly for 8 weeks, is designed to act as a mini-intensive, to build positive energy flows and practices, which support mindful wellness...  also allowing for a more in-depth study of Yoga in its many facets; Taiji / Qigong; and mindful living.

Each Saturday session will include 3 core segments...

-lecture / discussion
-movement practice
-meditation practice


COURSE OVERVIEW:

The guiding intention of this course is to offer an environment that supports a deeper exploration into the practices of Yoga, Taiji / Qigong, and overall  mindful wellness.  In this continued exploration one will also learn how these practices can become more fully integrated into the larger spectrum of life, bringing about increased well-being, insight, and fulfillment in the over-all life expression.

Program will include... study of Yoga philosophy; Yoga Asana and Pranayama practice and study; Taiji and Qigong philosophy, movement practice, and study; seated, standing, and moving meditation practice and study; and general wellness lifestyle principles.

COURSE STRUCTURE:

Week 1 (6/15):

Lecture (45 min.) - Introductions / Course Overview / Yoga & Qigong Overview 
Movement Practice (75 min)- Vinyasa Yoga
(15 min. break)

Meditation (35 min.) - Seated Meditation
(Brief discussion) (10 min.)

Week 2 (6/22):

Lecture (45 min.) - Hatha Yoga Energetics 
Movement Practice (75 min.) - Pranayama Practice / Seated Spinal Exercises (Kundalini Yoga)
(15 min. break)

Meditation (35 min.) - Seated Meditation
(Brief discussion) (10 min.)

Week 3 (6/29):

Lecture (45 min.) - Taiji Posture, Energy Flow Essentials / Standing Post & Lubricating Waist Exercises  
Movement Practice (75 min.) - Taiji & Qigong Master Tony Wong Presents - Chen Taiji basic stepping exercises, with 4 energies / alignment principles, and standing meditation for optimal energy flow.
(15 min. break)

Meditation (35 min.) - Seated Meditation
(Brief discussion) (10 min.)

Week 4 (7/6):

Lecture (45 min.) - Qigong Subtle Anatomy
Movement Practice (75 min.) - Hunyuan Qigong
(15 min. break)

Meditation (35 min.) - Clearing 8 Primary Meridians (seated meditation)
(Brief discussion) (10 min.)

Lecture (45 min.) - Raja Yoga / Meditation 
Movement Practice (75 min.) - Posture Keys for Seated Meditation / Vinyasa Yoga
(15 min. break)

Meditation (35 min.) - Mantras / Chakra sounds / Japa Yoga / Seated Meditation
(Brief discussion) (10 min.)

Week 6 (7/20):

Lecture (45 min.) - Mindfulness in Activity / Karma Yoga / Wu Wei
Movement Practice (75 min.) - Chen Taiji Silk Reeling Exercises
(15 min. break)
Meditation (35 min.) - Seated Meditation
(Brief discussion) (10 min.)

Week 7 (7/27):

Lecture (45 min.) - Self Care / Healthy Lifestyle / Ayurveda 
Movement Practice (75 min.) - Spa Day / Self Massage Techniques / Restorative Yoga
(15 min. break)

Meditation (35 min.) - Extended Savasana / Yoga Nidra
(Brief discussion) (10 min.)

Week 8 (8/3):

Lecture (45 min.) - Mindful Relationship / Sheaths, States, and Planes of Consciousness 
Movement Practice (75 min.) - Long Life Exercises / Clearing 8 Primary Meridians (standing exercise) / Push-hands exercises
(15 min. break)

Meditation (35 min.) - Meta Meditation / Seated Meditation
(Brief discussion) (10 min.)

(For each Sat. session there will be a 15 minute break at noon)
(Please feel free to bring a snack, if you feel you will need it)
(Please bring a pen and notepad, for taking notes)
(Handouts, and suggestions for home study will also be offered)
