Chen Tai Chi & Qigong

Class Description: In this class we will practice some of the Silk Reeling Exercises from Chen Style Tai Chi, and various different qigong exercises. This practice includes tai chi movements, qigong, self-massage, and standing / or seated meditation. The exercises are geared towards gently relaxing and strengthening the body, circulating and increasing the flow of energy throughout, releasing stress and tension, improving health and immune function, and cultivating a calm mind.

Class Levels:
Level 1:
More time spent on foundational postures, and basic alignment principles for safety, strength and integration of body, and proper energy flow.
Level 2:
More challenging sequences and variations are introduced, as well as a bit more time spent with inversions and arm balancing poses.
Level 3:
More challenging sequences and variations, inversions, arm balancing poses, as well as a more extended meditation and pranayama practice.
Note: Class levels are intended to support the practitioner in better determining the type of class that is the best fit for them, at their current place in their practice. All classes include instruction in mindfulness, proper breathing, proper postural alignment, and relaxation. Posture modifications and variation suggestions will be offered, when appropriate. If no class level is mentioned it means the class is suitable for all levels.
